Accessibility statement
The Veterans History Museum wants everyone to be able to use this website and visit the museum, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We build and test this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. The site does not rely on an accessibility overlay or widget. Accessibility is built into the pages themselves.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard alone and starts with a “Skip to main content” link.
- Text meets WCAG color-contrast requirements, and pages work when zoomed to 400%.
- Every image has a text description, or is marked as decorative.
- The collection timeline works with a keyboard, a screen reader, or as a plain list.
- Forms have visible labels and clear error messages.
- Motion is reduced for visitors who turn on “reduce motion” in their device settings.
Older content
Some older news stories include scanned newspaper pages as PDF files. If you need one in another format, contact us and we will send the text.
Visiting the museum
The museum is wheelchair accessible. It is inside the Collier Museum at Government Center, a Collier County public building. If you have a question about access before you visit, email veteranshistorymuseum@gmail.com.
